Sculpture / Collectible
We
were extremely encouraged by the reactions to the
first Insanely
Twisted Rabbit sculpture / collectible
from Sideshow.
It was a huge hit and an instant sell out. And now,
we're excited about expending the line.
Here's
a little sneak peek at the second piece in the collection.
It's still a work in progress (we are currently ironing
all the bugs) but I was so excited about it that I just
had to share it with you. I will post an updated image
as soon as it becomes available.
Eventually,
I'd love to branch out to include 3D renditions from
my other books such as A
Search for Meaning and Frenzied
Fauna. If there's a particular character you would
like to see us bring to 3D, please
let us know. We're very open to suggestions.

Two
Pugs
A
few weeks ago, my good friend Bonnie
Dean asked if she could commission me to do a piece
for her daughter's birthday. Andra (the daughter) has
two black pugs that are just the cutest things and Bonnie
wanted me to do a picture of them. Although the dogs
look very similar, they both have very distintive personalities
and it was really fun trying to capture their individual
essence.

received her present on August 14th and needless to
say, she was absolutely delighted!

New
Addition to the Fan
Art Gallery by Jake Parker
About
a week ago, I received
a cool email from the talented Jake Parker (website).
I met Jake at one of the Sketchbook
Session in L.A. a couple of years ago and I always
enjoy hearing from him. Here's is part of his email
and the image that was attached to it.
Hey
Michel,
I
bought Towers [of
Numar] yesterday at Zeus Comics here in Dallas.
I love it! Definitely your best book yet. I read it
to Tate (my 2 year old) last night for his bed time
story and he approves.
So,
last night I couldn't help myself and I took a stab
at drawing Meeka. What I like about the book, and here's
where I think your brilliance lies, is the subtle things
that hint to a larger more in depth world than what
first meets the eye. Like the Shrine of Hishtek, who's
Hishtek and why does he get a shrine? How do Numerians
reproduce? What's grumpy Goomo's story? So many things
that could be stories in and of themselves. I'd say
I want to see more done with this world you've created
but I'm having too much fun imagining it on my own.

New
Addition to the Fan
Art Gallery by Wade Shin
I
met Wade at the San Diego Comic-Con. He came by my booth
and bought a copy of Insanely
Twisted Rabbits. Then, he handed me his sketchbook.
As I flipped the pages, I was fascinated by his meticulously
rendered illustrations. His techno-organic style, while
unique, reminded me of a cross between Moebius and Yves
Tanguy, with a cartoony / animation style thrown in.
Very interesting.
As
I sketched for him, I asked him if he could do a little
drawing for my Fan
Art Gallery. The next day, he came back to my booth
and gave me this version of an "Insanely Twisted
Rabbit". Pretty neat! You can click on the image

and Yoda
Here

I did this interpretation of Todd McFarlane's famous
character, Spawn, for my pal Royce
Viso.
The
drawing on the right was my contribution to John Higashi's
spectacular Star Wars collection.
